External headers are no longer welcome in the ffmpeg codebase because they
increase the maintenance burden. However, in the NVidia case the vanilla
headers need some modifications to be usable in ffmpeg therefore we still
provide them, but in a separate repository.
The external headers can be found at
https://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg/nv-codec-headers.git
Fate-source is updated because of the deleted files, and dynlink_loader.h
license headers were updated with the standard FFmpeg headers.

This was predictably nightmarish, given how ridiculous mpeg4 is.
I had to stare at the cuvid parser output for a long time to work
out what each field was supposed to be, and even then, I still don't
fully understand some of them. Particularly:
vop_coded: If I'm reading the decoder correctly, this flag will always
be 1 as the decoder will not pass the hwaccel any frame
where it is not 1.
divx_flags: There's obviously no documentation on what the possible
flags are. I simply observed that this is '0' for a
normal bitstream and '5' for packed b-frames.
gmc_enabled: I had a number of guesses as to what this mapped to.
I picked the condition I did based on when the cuvid
parser was setting flag.
Also note that as with the vdpau hwaccel, the decoder needs to
consume the entire frame and not the slice.
This is mostly straight-forward. The weird part is that it should
just work for mpeg1, but I see corruption in my test cases, so I'm
going to try and fix that separately.

This commit implements support for PCE (Program Configuration Elements) in the
AAC encoder, and as such allows for encoding of channel layouts not present
in the presets defined by the spec (which only lists the 8 most common ones).
This has been a highly requested feature and is also the first open source encoder
to support this many layouts.
Many thanks to pkviet <pkv.stream@gmail.com> who implemented support for and
verified all channel layouts.
This adds hardware decoding for H.264 / HEVC / VP8 / VP9 using the MPP

The filter supports two inputs and (implicitly) scaling the second input
during composition, unlike the software overlay.
The code has been separated into common interface and qsv overlay
implementation. The common part mainly creates the qsv session and
manages the surface which is nearly the same for all qsv filters.
So the qsvvpp.c/qsvvpp.h API can be used by other QSV vpp filters
to reduce code redundancy.
Usage:
-hwaccel qsv -c:v mpeg2_qsv -r 25 -i in.m2v -hwaccel qsv -c:v h264_qsv
-i in.h264 -filter_complex
"overlay_qsv=eof_action=repeat:x=(W-w)/2:y=(H-h)/2" -b 2M -maxrate 3M
-c:v h264_qsv -y out.h264
Two inputs should have different sizes otherwise one will be completely
covered or you need to scale the second input as follows:
-hwaccel qsv -c:v mpeg2_qsv -r 25 -i in.m2v -hwaccel qsv -c:v h264_qsv
-i in.h264 -filter_complex
"overlay_qsv=w=720:h=576:x=(W-w)/2:y=(H-h)/2" -b 2M -maxrate 3M -c:v

The library has stopped being developed and Debian has removed it
from its repositories citing security issues.
The native Dirac decoder supports everything the library has and basic
encoding support is still provided via the native vc2 (Dirac Pro, intra
only version of Dirac) encoder. Hence, there's no reason to still support
linking to the library and potentially leading users into security issues.
Enables rendering of SVG images. This is possible since SVG images
still contain and specify the dimensions in pixels to which they've
been drawn to and thus enable browsers to display them without any
external data. Users can still override and generate images with
arbitrary resolutions.

Also contains the following changes to the library:
- add ff_ prefix to functions
- remove cplusplus defines.
- add FF_ prefix to contants and some structs
- remove true peak calculation feature, since it uses its own resampler, and
af_loudnorm does not need it.
- remove version info and some fprintf(stderr) functions
- convert to use av_malloc
- always use histogram mode for LRA calculation, otherwise LRA data is slowly
consuming memory making af_loudnorm unfit for 24/7 operation. It also uses a
BSD style linked list implementation which is probably not available on all
platforms. So let's just remove the classic mode which not uses histogram.
- add ff_thread_once for calculating static histogram tables
- convert some functions to void which cannot fail
- remove intrinsics and some unused headers
- add support for planar audio
- remove channel / sample rate changer function, in ffmpeg usually we simply
alloc a new context
- convert some static variables to defines
- declare static histogram variables as aligned
- convert some initalizations to mallocz
- add window size parameter to init function and remove window size setter
function
- convert return codes to AVERROR
- fix indentation

The new decode API allows for m:n decode patterns, which is what
you need to use this hardware in a sane way. There are so many
situations where 1:1 doesn't happen naturally that it's a miracle
I got it working as well as I did.
With this change, we can throw all of the crazy heuristics and
sleeps(!) out, and things work correctly.
Add new mime types AAL2-G726 for g726 as suggested in rfc 3551.
This patch will break interaction with applications that incorrectly
use big-endian G.726 with mime type G726 but we know of at least one
device (DVTel camera) that correctly implements the rfc, so do the same.
Fixes ticket #5890.
This is a similar filter to f_metadata, only it works on side data. Since
adding side data from a user provided arbitrary binary string is unsafe,
because current code assumes that a side data of a certain kind has the proper
size, this filter only implements selection and deletion. Also, no value
matching support is implemented yet, because there is no uniform way to specify
a side data textually.

There is really no need for two aac wrappers, we already have
libfdk-aac which is better. Not to mention that faac doesn't
even support HEv1, or HEv2. It's also under a license which is
unusable for distribution, so it would only be useful to people
who will compile their own ffmpeg, only use it themselves (which
at that point should just use fdk-aac).

The raspberry pi uses the alternative API/ABI for OMX; this makes
such builds incompatible with all the normal OpenMAX implementations.
Since this can't easily be detected at configure time (one can
build for raspberry pi's OMX just fine using the generic, pristine
Khronos OpenMAX IL headers, no need for their own extensions),
require a separate configure switch for it instead.
The broadcom host library can't be unloaded once loaded and started;
the deinit function that it provides is a no-op, and after started,
it has got background threads running, so dlclosing it makes it
crash.

It serves absolutely no purpose other than to confuse potentional
Android developers about how to use hardware acceleration properly
on the the platform. The stagefright "API" is not public, and the
MediaCodec API is the proper way to do this.
Furthermore, stagefright support in avcodec needs a series of
magic incantations and version-specific stuff, such that
using it actually provides downsides compared just using the actual
Android frameworks properly, in that it is a lot more work and confusion
to get it even running. It also leads to a lot of misinformation, like
these sorts of comments (in [1]) that are absolutely incorrect.

This finalizes merging of the work in the patches in ticket #2686.
Improvements to twoloop and RC logic are extensive.
The non-exhaustive list of twoloop improvments includes:
- Tweaks to distortion limits on the RD optimization phase of twoloop
- Deeper search in twoloop
- PNS information marking to let twoloop decide when to use it
(turned out having the decision made separately wasn't working)
- Tonal band detection and priorization
- Better band energy conservation rules
- Strict hole avoidance
For rate control:
- Use psymodel's bit allocation to allow proper use of the bit
reservoir. Don't work against the bit reservoir by moving lambda
in the opposite direction when psymodel decides to allocate more/less
bits to a frame.
- Retry the encode if the effective rate lies outside a reasonable
margin of psymodel's allocation or the selected ABR.
- Log average lambda at the end. Useful info for everyone, but especially
for tuning of the various encoder constants that relate to lambda
feedback.
Psy:
- Do not apply lowpass with a FIR filter, instead just let the coder
zero bands above the cutoff. The FIR filter induces group delay,
and while zeroing bands causes ripple, it's lost in the quantization
noise.
- Experimental VBR bit allocation code
- Tweak automatic lowpass filter threshold to maximize audio bandwidth
at all bitrates while still providing acceptable, stable quality.
I/S:
- Phase decision fixes. Unrelated to #2686, but the bugs only surfaced
when the merge was finalized. Measure I/S band energy accounting for
phase, and prevent I/S and M/S from being applied both.
PNS:
- Avoid marking short bands with PNS when they're part of a window
group in which there's a large variation of energy from one window
to the next. PNS can't preserve those and the effect is extremely
noticeable.
M/S:
- Implement BMLD protection similar to the specified in
ISO-IEC/13818:7-2003, Appendix C Section 6.1. Since M/S decision
doesn't conform to section 6.1, a different method had to be
implemented, but should provide equivalent protection.
- Move the decision logic closer to the method specified in
ISO-IEC/13818:7-2003, Appendix C Section 6.1. Specifically,
make sure M/S needs less bits than dual stereo.
- Don't apply M/S in bands that are using I/S
Now, this of course needed adjustments in the compare targets and
fuzz factors of the AAC encoder's fate tests, but if wondering why
the targets go up (more distortion), consider the previous coder
was using too many bits on LF content (far more than required by
psy), and thus those signals will now be more distorted, not less.
The extra distortion isn't audible though, I carried extensive
ABX testing to make sure.
A very similar patch was also extensively tested by Kamendo2 in
the context of #2686.
