Decoders will currently warn if an audio decoder not marked with
AV_CODEC_CAP_SUBFRAMES consumes less than the whole packet, but
* this happens for regular files
* this has no negative consequences
* there is no meeaningful action that can or should be taken in response
The warning is thus useless noise.
These fields are supposed to store information about the packet the
frame was decoded from, specifically the byte offset it was stored at
and its size.
However,
- the fields are highly ad-hoc - there is no strong reason why
specifically those (and not any other) packet properties should have a
dedicated field in AVFrame; unlike e.g. the timestamps, there is no
fundamental link between coded packet offset/size and decoded frames
- they only make sense for frames produced by decoding demuxed packets,
and even then it is not always the case that the encoded data was
stored in the file as a contiguous sequence of bytes (in order for pos
to be well-defined)
- pkt_pos was added without much explanation, apparently to allow
passthrough of this information through lavfi in order to handle byte
seeking in ffplay. That is now implemented using arbitrary user data
passthrough in AVFrame.opaque_ref.
- several filters use pkt_pos as a variable available to user-supplied
expressions, but there seems to be no established motivation for using them.
- pkt_size was added for use in ffprobe, but that too is now handled
without using this field. Additonally, the values of this field
produced by libavcodec are flawed, as described in the previous
ffprobe conversion commit.
In summary - these fields are ill-defined and insufficiently motivated,
so deprecate them.
FFmpeg's assembly code currently does not abide by the
plattform-specific ABIs wrt its handling of the X86 MMX flag:
Resetting the MMX state is deferred to avoid doing it multiple times
instead of ensuring that the CPU is in floating point state
upon return from any function.
Furthermore, resetting said state is sometimes done generically,
namely for all the decoders using the ordinary decode callback;
yet this is not done for the decoders using the receive_frame API.
This led to problems when MJPEG (and the MJPEG-based decoders)
were switched to the receive_frame API in commit
e9a2a87773, because ff_mjpeg_decode_sos()
only resets the MMX state on success, not on failure.
Such issues are probably still possible with SMVJPEG, which still
uses the receive_frame API. See issue #10210.
This commit therefore also resets the MMX state for
the receive_frame API to avoid any more surprises of this sort.

The idea behind last_pkt_props was to store the properties of the last packet
fed to the decoder. Any sort of queueing required by CODEC_CAP_DELAY decoders
that consume several packets before they start outputting frames should be done
by the decoders in question. An example of this is libdav1d.
This is required for the following commits that will fix last_pkt_props in
frame threading scenarios, as well as maintain its contents during flush.

The general decoding API uses bitstream filters and an AVFifo
and therefore AVCodecInternal contains pointers to an AVBSFContext
and to an AVFifo and lavc/internal.h includes lavc/bsf.h and
lavu/fifo.h.
Yet actually, only two files are supposed to use these, namely
avcodec.c and (mainly) decode.c. For all the other files,
it should be an opaque type that they should not touch and that
they need not know anything about. This can be achieved by not
including these headers and using the structs instead of the
corresponding typedefs.
This also forces translation units that really use the BSF
and the FIFO APIs themselves to include the relevant headers
directly instead of relying on indirect inclusions (up until now,
even avcodec.c and decode.c relied on fifo.h to be included
by internal.h).
Of course, it also avoids unnecessary rebuilds when bsf.h or fifo.h
change.

Several encoders (roqvideo, svq1, snow, and the mpegvideo family)
currently call ff_get_buffer(). However this function is written
assuming it is called by a decoder. Though nothing has been obviously
broken by this until now, that may change in the future.
To avoid potential future issues, introduce a simple encode-specific
wrapper around avcodec_default_get_buffer2() and enforce its use in
encoders.
This is possible, because every given FFCodec has to implement
exactly one of these. Doing so decreases sizeof(FFCodec) and
therefore decreases the size of the binary.
Notice that in case of position-independent code the decrease
is in .data.rel.ro, so that this translates to decreased
memory consumption.

Up until now, codec.h contains both public and private parts
of AVCodec. This exposes the internals of AVCodec to users
and leads them into the temptation of actually using them
and forces us to forward-declare structures and types that
users can't use at all.
This commit changes this by adding a new structure FFCodec to
codec_internal.h that extends AVCodec, i.e. contains the public
AVCodec as first member; the private fields of AVCodec are moved

Decoders implementing the receive_frame API currently mostly use
stack packets to temporarily hold the packet they receive from
ff_decode_get_packet(). This role directly parallels the role of
in_pkt, the spare packet used in decode_simple_internal for the
decoders implementing the traditional decoding API. Said packet
is unused by the generic code for the decoders implementing the
receive_frame API, so allow them to use it to fulfill the function
it already fulfills for the traditional API for both APIs.
There is only one caveat in this: The packet is automatically
unreferenced in avcodec_flush_buffers(). But this is actually
positive as it means the decoders don't have to do this themselves
(in case the packet is preserved between receive_frame calls).

Previously, there was no way to flush an encoder such that after
draining, the encoder could be used again. We generally suggested
that clients teardown and replace the encoder instance in these
situations. However, for at least some hardware encoders, the cost of
this tear down/replace cycle is very high, which can get in the way of
some use-cases - for example: segmented encoding with nvenc.
To help address that use case, we added support for calling
avcodec_flush_buffers() to nvenc and things worked in practice,
although it was not clearly documented as to whether this should work
or not. There was only one previous example of an encoder implementing
the flush callback (audiotoolboxenc) and it's unclear if that was
intentional or not. However, it was clear that calling
avocdec_flush_buffers() on any other encoder would leave the encoder in
an undefined state, and that's not great.
As part of cleaning this up, this change introduces a formal capability
flag for encoders that support flushing and ensures a flush call is a
no-op for any other encoder. This allows client code to check if it is
meaningful to call flush on an encoder before actually doing it.
I have not attempted to separate the steps taken inside
avcodec_flush_buffers() because it's not doing anything that's wrong
for an encoder. But I did add a sanity check to reject attempts to
flush a frame threaded encoder because I couldn't wrap my head around
whether that code path was actually safe or not. As this combination
doesn't exist today, we'll deal with it if it ever comes up.
Currently the frame pool used by the default get_buffer2()
implementation is a single struct, allocated when opening the decoder.
A pointer to it is simply copied to each frame thread and we assume that
no thread attempts to modify it at an unexpected time. This is rather
fragile and potentially dangerous.
With this commit, the frame pool is made refcounted, with the reference
being propagated across threads along with other context variables. The
frame pool is now also immutable - when the stream parameters change we
drop the old reference and create a new one.
