As the nvEncodeApi.h header is now MIT licensed, this can be dropped.
The loaded CUDA and NVENC libraries are part of the nvidia driver, and
thus count as system libraries.

The code needs only a few definitions from cuda.h, so define them
directly when CUDA is not enabled. CUDA is still required for accepting
HW frames as input.

Group them in a subsection of the external library section. That should
make them easier to find and understand how they fit in the scheme of
things.
Also, rewrite the description text in a similar way as in the previous
commit.
Add a more accurate description of what the switches actually do (i.e.
allow using the given library, not enabling the corresponding
codecs etc.).
Replace the library descriptions, in many cases boilerplate text without
useful information, with a short summary of what the library does.
This uses a new MMAL feature, which limits the number of extra frames
that can be buffered within the decoder. VIDEO_MAX_NUM_CALLBACKS can
be defined as positive or negative number. Positive numbers are
absolute, and can lead to deadlocks if the user underestimates the
number of required buffers. Negative numbers specify the number of extra
buffers, e.g. -1 means no extra buffer, (-1-N) means N extra buffers.
Set a gratuitous default of -11 (N=10). This is much lower than the
firmware default, which appears to be 96.
This is backwards compatible, but needs a symbol only present in newer
firmware headers. (It's an enum item, so it requires a check in
configure.)

Register mmaldec as mpeg2 decoder. Supporting mpeg2 in mmaldec is just a
matter of setting the correct MMAL_ENCODING on the input port. To ease the
addition of further supported mmal codecs a macro is introduced to generate
the decoder and decoder class structs.

The raspberry pi uses the alternative API/ABI for OMX; this makes
such builds incompatible with all the normal OpenMAX implementations.
Since this can't easily be detected at configure time (one can
build for raspberry pi's OMX just fine using the generic, pristine
Khronos OpenMAX IL headers, no need for their own extensions),
require a separate configure switch for it instead.
The broadcom host library can't be unloaded once loaded and started;
the deinit function that it provides is a no-op, and after started,
it has got background threads running, so dlclosing it makes it
crash.

Previously, with JACK installed, the configure script would enable the
JACK indev; this broke on OS X due to an incomplete pthreads
implementation. Add some simple macros to map libdispatch to pthreads
on OS X.

The intrax8 decoding process does not imply any kind of error
resilience, and the only call present is more related to how mpegvideo
works rather than anything else.
Therefore have the parent decoders carry out er when actually needed.
Instead of a linked list constructed at av_register_all(), store them
in a constant array of pointers.
Since no registration is necessary now, this removes some global state
from lavf. This will also allow the urlprotocol layer caller to limit
the available protocols in a simple and flexible way in the following
commits.
lavfi has been considered to be stable for a while now, so it is enabled
in most configurations. Supporting avplay without lavfi requires a lot
of nontrivial ifdef mess for no good reason.
AVX2 support was introduced in Yasm 1.2.0 and NASM 2.10, and the
oldest versions currently supported are Yasm 0.8.0 and NASM 2.03

Before this patch trying to enable only https by issuing
--disable-protocols --enable-protocol=https --enable-gnutls
does not enable https, and
--disable-all --enable-protocols
does not enable libavformat and the protocols component.
Now the default-enabled options are set after the explicitly
disabled/enabled options are evaluated.
If an explicitly enabled option cannot be enabled configure
will fail printing an error message.
Updates libkvazaar to pass the exact frame rate to Kvazaar by setting
the numerator and denominator separately instead of a single floating
point number. The exact frame rate is needed for writing timing info to
the bitstream.
Requires Kvazaar version 0.8.1.

MSYS, as per cygwin, by default uses a custom posix abstraction
in the form of a "msys2.dll". Programs build that way are harder to
distribute and use.
MSYS2 provides alternate launcher scripts that provide a MINGW
environment nearly out of box.
In order to load libraries in Android they need to be unversioned.
The android target section was derived from the BSD ones, and they
that simply drop the SONAME
Android M requires to have a SONAME entry but unversioned.
Some systems may be lacking getservbyport; the previous ifdef wasn't
quite enough since it still assumed that struct servent was defined,
as pointed out by Clément Gregoire.
Simply remove the possibility to return non-numeric services in
getnameinfo; no caller of getnameinfo within libavformat
currently try to use getnameinfo for retrieving the port number without
NI_NUMERICSERV, and falling back on getservbyport may be non-threadsafe.

The versioning facility in the Solaris linker differs from Linux in 3 ways:
1. It does not support globs in linker scripts for
symbol versioning -- this is a GNU extension.
2. The linker argument is '-M', instead of '--version-script'.
3. It is picky about line endings.
Each symbol or directive must be on a line of it's own.
Let's use make_sunver.pl from GCC to generate a version script that works
correctly with the Solaris linker. It's function is to correctly expand the
globs in the original generated version script.

This way is sufficient to use the component specific configure variable
and not guard against the global library configure variable in code
that is outside it (e.g. checkasm).
Some gcc-based toolchain would fail to link if the abi set by the
cpuflags does not match the default.

Don't try to detect the float ABI by checking at the toolchain
name or by trying to assemble and link files with eabi_attributes.
This fixes the float ABI detection when building using clang
with -fembed-bitcode, where the current eabi_attributes check
accidentally passes.

On Xcode's clang on OS X, $cc --version will output a 'Configured with:'
line to stderr, which clobbers the configure script output. As this line
serves no further purpose, it should be silenced.
The same applies to apple-gcc 4.2.1, which complains that it can not
understand the kernel version it is running on.

This avoids having to manually set _WIN32_WINNT in --extra-cflags
when targeting these API families, which only was necessary to
work around configure setting _WIN32_WINNT to an older version
by default.

If _WIN32_WINNT is unset, we force it to a new enough value to
make sure the necessary definitions are visible.
When targeting Windows Phone or Windows RT, _WIN32_WINNT should
be at least 0x0602 - otherwise the windows headers themselves
can cause errors (which technically are bugs in the headers).
Raising this value here shouldn't hurt; the alternative would
be to not touch it at all if WINAPI_FAMILY is set to phone/app,
or to force setting it to 0x0602 in configure if unset (for phone/app).

The struct definitions in dxva.h, which are necessary in order to
actually use d3d11va, are hidden when WINAPI_FAMILY targets Windows Phone
or WindowsRT.
Building with WINAPI_FAMILY=WINAPI_FAMILY_DESKTOP_APP is disallowed
when targeting ARM. ("Compiling Desktop applications for the ARM
platform is not supported.") So we set _CRT_BUILD_DESKTOP_APP to 0
to tell the runtime not to detect some issues with this mismatching.
The same tweaks to detect if the API is available is done in dxva2_internal.h
when compiling each DXVA2/D3D11VA decoders.

Any other x265 symbol may not exported, e.g. if the build is a
multilib (10-bit and 8-bit in one) build.
This is the only symbol we directly call, and is available in the
build number we check for.

Using the internal DXTC routines brings support for non multiple of 4
textures. A new test is added to cover this feature. Hashes differ
since the decoding algorithm is different, though no visual changes
have been spotted.

This fixes dxva2 detection (i.e. correctly realizes that it isn't
available) for WinRT, where dxva2api.h does exist, but these definitions
are omitted (when targeting the API subsets).
Ideally we should rather check for e.g. DXVA2_ConfigPictureDecode,
but configure might fail to find that definition due to _WIN32_WINNT
not being set to the right value during configure. (libavcodec/dxva2.h
manually overrides the _WIN32_WINNT define.)
This allows removing hardcoded --disable-dxva2 from such build
configurations.

Use the Multi-library interface to load at runtime x265 libraries
supporting alternative bit depths (e.g. 8bit and 16bit).
The linked library will try to load the library supporting the
pixel format if it is not supported by itself.
Fallback requesting the native library (passing 0 to x265_api_get) if
a library supporting the requested bit depth is not available.

When all the codepaths using manually set .arch/.fpu code is
behind runtime detection, the elf attributes should be suppressed.
This allows tools to know that the final built binary doesn't

Since not all systems need the libraw1394 dependency, let pkg-config
provide the list of libraries actually needed.
The libdc1394-2.pc file has been included since version 2 (2008-01-05),
so it should be safe to use.
This fixes builds with vc1_parser enabled without vc1_decoder. All
the vc1_decoder object files were included in the vc1_parser line
in libavcodec/Makefile before, but architecture specific object files
for vc1_decoder were not.

Compared to existing, common opensource H264 encoders, this can be
useful since it has got a different license (BSD instead of GPL).
Performance- and qualitywise it is comparable to x264 in ultrafast
mode.
Hooking it up as an encoder in libavcodec also simplifies comparing
it against other common encoders.
This requires OpenH264 1.3 or newer. Since the OpenH264 API and ABI
changes frequently, only releases are supported.
To take advantage of the OpenH264 patent offer, the OpenH264 library
must not be redistributed, but downloaded at runtime at the end-user's
system.

The MoveFileExA is available in the headers regardless which API
subset is targeted, but it is missing in the Windows Phone link
libraries. When targeting Windows Store apps, the function is
available both in the headers and in the link libraries, and thus
there is no indication for the build system that this function
should be avoided - such an indication is only given by the
Windows App Certification Kit, which forbids using the MoveFileExA
function.
Therefore check the WINAPI_FAMILY defines instead, to figure out
which API subset is targeted.

This is mostly to serve as a reference example on how to segment
the output from the mp4 muxer, capable of writing the segment
list in four different ways:
- SegmentTemplate with SegmentTimeline
- SegmentTemplate with implicit segments
- SegmentList with individual files
- SegmentList with one single file per track, and byte ranges
The muxer is able to serve live content (with optional windowing)
or create a static segmented MPD.
In advanced cases, users will probably want to do the segmenting
in their own application code.

These are ok to use from other libraries even though it's not a
public header, since they only provide an inline declaration, and
doesn't add an actual dependency on lavu internals. (This can be

This option facilitates testing shared libarary builds: for instance
fate builders do no longer need to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH as the binaries will
get the right search paths hardcoded into their executable file.
This option is only meant to be used for testing purposes: The installed
libraries must not move around in the file system, and doing so will
cause a lot of subtle problems. For more information why using RPATH is

On mingw64 with c++11 support, the link libraries do contain a
nanosleep function, while it isn't exposed via the headers. Using
check_func_headers instead of a plain check_func fixes this
misdetection.

The -MD option (for enabling a dynamically linked crt) gets interpreted
as a cpp option for generating dependency information (into a file named
'-.d', when preprocessing to a pipe). We shouldn't be passing
any and all C compiler flags to armasm (which is a plain assembler,
only with cpp bolted on via gas-preprocessor), but these are the
main conflicting ones.

llvm's integrated assembler supports the AArch64 asm on darwin since
August 2014. So check $as first before using gas-preprocessor.pl via
$gas. Makes the checks specific for that the architecture specific asm
needs. PPC Altivec and AArch64 needs on ':vararg' for macro arguments.
Arm needs in addition the '.altmacro' directive.
Initialise VC1DSPContext for parser as well as for decoder.
Note, the VC-1 code doesn't actually use the function pointer yet.

It has not been properly maintained for years and there is little hope
of that changing in the future.
It appears simpler to write a new replacement from scratch than
unbreaking it.
Clang's integrated assembler (after 3.4) does not yet support the
'.altmacro' directive which is only used in arm asm. Support is planned:

Move the GNU as check before the arch specific asm checks since the .dn
check requires gas compatible assembler.
Disable the VC-1 motion compensation NEON asm which is the only part
using that directive. The integrated assembler in the upcoming clang 3.5
does not support .dn/.qn without plans to change that. Too much effort
to implement it while it is rarely used.

Clang Undefined Behaviour Sanitizer seems to make non-constant constant
expressions, making the compilation fail when they are used within
inline assembly if no optimization is requested.
Add -O1 to the cflags to hide the misbehaviour.

The DCBZL instruction is not available for the e500v1 and e500v2
architectures, but may still be recognized by the toolchain, so we
need to explicitly disable it for these architectures.

The values of {FLT,DBL}_{MAX,MIN} macros on some systems (older musl
libc, some BSD flavours) are not exactly representable, i.e.
(double)DBL_MAX == DBL_MAX is false
This violates (at least some interpretations of) the C99 standard and
breaks code (e.g. in vf_fps) like
double f = DBL_MAX;
[...]
if (f == DBL_MAX) { // f has not been changed yet
[....]
}
Not guaranteed to be in nanosecond resolution. On iOS 7 the duration
of one tick is 125/3 ns which is still more than an order of magnitude
better then microseconds.
Replace decicycles with the neutral UNITS. Decicycles is strange but
tenths of a nanosecond and unspecific "deci"-ticks for mach_absolute_time
is just silly.
The SVQ3 decoder reuses large parts of the H.264 decoder so it
makes no sense to enable the former but not the latter.
Also drop unnecessary h263.o object from SVQ3 decoder object list.
The s390 architecture requires shared libraries to be built in PIC mode.
Otherwise applications will get wrong relocations at run-time, leading
to confusing segmentation faults.

A threading type might be detected originally, but later disabled
if one of its dependencies is unavailable.
This makes sure that the threading support item in the configure
output is right for setups where w32threads are available but
native atomics aren't.

These codecs compile all of the MJPEG code anyway, so there is little
point in not enabling the MJPEG decoder directly. This also simplifies
the dependency declarations for the MJPEG codec family.
This codec compiles all of the SP5X code anyway, so there is little
point in not enabling the decoder directly. This also simplifies the
dependency declaration for the AMV decoder.
The vector dequantization has a test in a loop preventing effective SIMD
implementation. By moving it out of the loop, this loop can be DSPized.
Therefore, modify the current DSP implementation. In particular, the
DSP implementation no longer has to handle null loop sizes.
The decode_hf implementations have following timings:
For x86 Arrandale:

The arm NEON optimizations follow in a later patch as external asm. The
now unused check for the y modifier in arm inline asm is removed from
configure.
Framerate is now a sane rational instead of an integer, and
inputDepth is changed to what it actually is.

Moving cpunop from the HAVE_LIST to the ARCH_EXT_LIST_X86 has the side
effect of enabling it. The semantics of the check have to be changed
from enable if successful to disable if unsuccessful. This was missing
in 2b0bb69997 causing build errors with
nasm.
Fixes dependency file generation with gas-preprocessor.pl and clang.
Flags copied from GCC and tested with Apple's clang from Xcode 5 and
5.1 and clang 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 on Linux.
NEON and VFP are currently mandatory for all ARMv8 profiles. Both are
handled as extensions as far as cpuflags are concerned. This is
consistent with handling x86_64 which always has SSE2, but still
handles it as an extension.
Stack is always 16 byte aligned and clz, 64bit operations and unaligned
memory access are fast in aarch64 mode on ARMv8.

Previously, if neither of the checks for the closesocket function
succeeded, we still kept winsock2.h and networking in general
enabled.
When targeting the WinRT API subset, the winsock2.h header is
available (making the check for it succeed, giving the impression
that winsock is available), but tests that actually try to use
such a function will fail. In this case, disable the winsock2.h
feature and networking in general, as if the winsock2.h header
test would have failed in the first place.

New versions of FreeType have moved the location of their API
header(s) and hide the location behind a macro.
Since the location changes between versions and no other way
to know the location exists, this workaround becomes necessary.

Some pthreads symbols might be present in libc (as shown on various *BSD)
but not all of them, leading to false positives.
Check for the most common compiler flags before the plain symbol check
to avoid known pitfalls.
